What are we looking for
The Sous Chef (Team Members Restaurant - All Day Dining) serving Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts is always working on behalf of our team members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, knowledge, skills, and values that follow:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent leadership role within a high-volume team restaurant, luxury hotel, banquet or all-day dining setting.
- Solid culinary background with expertise in preparing a variety of international and multicultural cuisines, particularly suited to diverse nationalities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a multicultural culinary team.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to oversee kitchen operations, shifts, and service periods efficiently.
- Effective communication skills to ensure coordination between kitchen and other departments.
- Keen attention to detail in food presentation, taste, portioning, and adherence to hygiene and food safety standards.
- Formal culinary education or relevant certification is highly preferred.
- Valid HACCP and food hygiene certification.
- Physically able to perform the duties of the role, including standing for long periods and lifting kitchen supplies when required.
- Professional grooming and presentation aligned with the standards of a luxury hospitality environment.
- Positive, proactive, and flexible attitude with a strong sense of responsibility and team spirit.
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Prior experience in a luxury hotel, resort, or employee dining restaurant.
- Exposure to multicultural work environments and knowledge of employee wellness-focused meal planning.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and early mornings or late evenings.
