Paralegal Operations EMEA

As a Paralegal, you will support the team in guiding Hilton's legal activities to protect the company while engaging in global business and ensuring compliance with our legal obligations. Reporting to Senior Counsel, Operations and Dispute Resolution EMEA, you will work closely with the Operations function to provide effective legal support to business partners, regional offices, and to hotels across the EMEA region. You will provide effective contentious and non-contentious operational legal support to business partners and hotels, including drafting and negotiating hotel level and corporate operational contracts.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.
What your day-to-day will be like:
• Providing appropriate and timely legal advice consistent with company policies, procedures and past practices.
• Communicating with hotels and business partners to provide day to day operational legal support.
• Drafting, reviewing and revising various contracts, including agreements for hotels and certain corporate departments.
• Supporting the EMEA F&D team with NDAs, franchise, licence, third party and outsourcing agreements.
• Supporting the Safety & Security team with a range of legal matters, including crisis management.
• Assisting with dispute resolution and litigation matters, including preparing and reviewing documentation for contemplated and active proceedings, such as statements of claim, pleadings and witness statements.
• Supporting the management of claims and disputes by assisting with fact gathering, document review and risk assessment.
• Assisting with data protection and information related requests, liaising directly with hotels and relevant internal stakeholders as appropriate.
• Assisting in establishing, maintaining and distributing a library of precedent documents.
• Assisting in implementing additional self service programs and legal guidance for business partners.
How you will collaborate with others:
• The EMEA Legal team currently has 16 lawyers and 6 paralegals with whom you will work. The group works closely on all issues relating to Hilton’s legal needs across the region.
• You will work closely with the other members of the team, including attending regular internal meetings to review issues and workflow.
• You will also work with business partners across corporate functions and at our hotels. This will include attending business partner meetings relevant to work assignments and assisting in the preparation and delivery of training.
• You will develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with internal business partners and outside counsel.
• You will engage outside counsel resources and conduct effective management of advisers of varying levels across numerous regions, in accordance with established budgets and engagement policies.
WHY YOU’LL BE A GREAT FIT
You have these minimum qualifications:
• Both of the following:
A degree from a common law jurisdiction; and
Completion of the Legal Practice Course or Bar Vocational Course (or equivalent professional training).
• Experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department as a paralegal (or equivalent position).
• Strong IT skills and numerical literacy.
• Proficiency in carrying out legal research.
• Ability to travel when required to do so (up to 5%).
It would be useful if you have:
• Experience of commercial law, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• A good understanding of the hotel sector and corporate structures.
