Specific Duties
Oversee the team and the general operation of the Banquet & Events department working closely with the Restaurant and Food & Beverage Manager
Manage the day-to-day functioning of all banqueting department employees, facilities and costs to ensure the maximum profit is achieved
Oversee the preparation, presentation and service of banquet food and beverage products to ensure highest quality at all times
Make a positive impact by taking personal responsibility and initiative to resolve issues whilst always clearly communicating with guests and colleagues
To exhibit exemplary personal deportment, appearance and attitude in a manner which enhances each guest’s experience and satisfaction
To maintain the highest standards of hygiene and quality assurance practices
To ensure that all staff under your direct supervision are smartly and correctly attired reporting for duty punctually in the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
To be familiar with all items on menus available to clients including names and styles of drinks detailed on the beverages list
To carry out and attend briefing sessions held before each function or meal period covering menu knowledge and promotions
To compile and work with checklists per meal period
To manage the beverage stock for functions
Ensure par stock of banquet equipment is maintained per business needs and demands
Support with recruitment and onboarding
Assist with menus, wine lists and MICE kit
Collaborate with all departments as needed
Be flexible in your availability based on event timings
Team
As Banquet Manager, you will help ensure that the work environment is safe, happy and productive by:
Overseeing the team, monitoring their attendance and helping them with any issues they may have
Ensuring the Performance reviews are done in a timely fashion and that both sides feel the review was worthwhile
Analysing our GTMS results and making action plans to improve and maintain results as needed
Communicating any issues that arise with the relevant department heads for their feedback
Ensuring that all our team conduct themselves in a manner consistent with good Occupational Safety and Health practices
Ensuring that new or existing team members are trained and upskilled in current practices or skills – build a succession plan
Being there for our team members, to offer support and encouragement where needed and ensuring that they are happy in their department
Rewarding and encouraging our team for positive behavior and excellent results
Having regular communication meetings with the team and individuals
Working with HR to ensure that we recruit the right people for the right job
Ensuring rostering is completed within the guidelines and that UKG is consistently updated to ensure correct processing of team members payroll
Work closely alongside the revenue team to ensure that we are maximising opportunities on a daily basis
Guests
You will help to create exceptional experiences for our guests by:
Ensuring that every guest feels cared for, valued and respected – every guest, every time
Making sure that on the shift everyone is briefed about VIP guests, bookings and events and any possible issues which may occur, thus ensuring seamless service delivery
Pro-actively assist the hotel team in solving any Guest issues or complaints, encouraging the team to use their initiative and empowerment guidelines at all times
Actively check SEP, Trip Advisor etc. to view comments and make recommendations to improve our service levels
Ensure that both you and your team have excellent product knowledge so that you can give our Guests the best service and advice possible
Be hands on especially during “need” periods, leading the way and showing a shining example of hospitality to the team
Ensure the team has everything at their disposal to deliver exceptional service to every guest every time and to Make It Right
Drive and promote upselling within the department ensuring that targets are met but also so that guests have a great value experience

What are we looking for?
A Banquet Manager serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:
• 2-4 years in a managerial position in a 4 / 5-star category hotel.
• Good English skills, both written and verbal to meet business needs.
• Familiar with computer systems.
• Motivated and committed, approaching all tasks with enthusiasm and seize opportunities to learn new skills or knowledge in order to improve personal performance.
• Flexible and responds quickly and positively to changing requirements including the performance of any tasks requested of you.
• Maintain high team focus by showing cooperation and support to colleagues in the pursuit of team goals.
• Strong leadership, people management and training skills.
• Guest oriented and able to confidently build and exceed service standards.
• Thorough knowledge of service, cost control in F&B, labour controls, beverage menu writing, maintenance, merchandising, computer and accountings.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to details.
• Key strengths (under the 9 competencies) in people management communication and planning.
• Able to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
• Outgoing personality and willing to work for long hours.
