Water Plant Operator/Steward Attendant
Purpose of the Role
To ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of water treatment facilities while maintaining cleanliness, order, and support services within the plant environment.
Key Responsibilities
Water Treatment Operations
Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment plant equipment (pumps, motors, filtration systems, chemical dosing units).
Collect water samples and perform laboratory tests (pH, turbidity, chlorine levels, etc.) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Record operational data and prepare reports on plant performance.
Adjust treatment processes to respond to water quality changes.
Conduct preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
Steward Support
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in plant areas, including control rooms, laboratories, and storage facilities.
Assist with safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials.
Support logistics such as receiving deliveries, organizing supplies, and ensuring proper stock levels.
Provide assistance during inspections, audits, and emergency response drills.
Safety & Compliance
Follow established operating procedures and safety protocols.
Monitor hazards such as chemical exposure, noise, and confined spaces.
Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health regulations.
What are we looking for?
Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of water treatment processes and environmental regulations.
Ability to operate laboratory and plant monitoring equipment (e.g., spectrophotometers, flow meters, probes).
Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
Physical ability to work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions.
Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Work Environment
Exposure to chemicals, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
Shift-based work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on plant operations.
Combination of indoor laboratory tasks and outdoor plant monitoring.
