Sales Tax Accountant
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.
What your day-to-day will be like:
- Prepare, research, and file multiple sales, occupancy, use, telecom, and liquor tax returns for our managed hotels. You will notify hotel finance and the hotel of any discrepancies
- Maintain a tax calendar either online or through SharePoint with due dates, logins, etc. to ensure all returns are filed
- Analyze all monthly exemptions to ensure they comply with applicable jurisdiction rules
How you will collaborate with others:
- Respond to requests for tax information by internal customers and taxing jurisdictions
- Resolve any compliance issues with taxing authorities
- Interact with team members, corporate accountants, and hotel employees
What projects you will take ownership of:
- Maintain and add to the hotel information folders in SharePoint
- Identify or assist to improve operations or streamline processes
- Ensure your PeopleSoft worksheets are up-to-date and correct
WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT
You have these minimum qualifications:
- One (1) year of professional tax experience
- Two (2) years of general ledger accounting experience
- Experience interpreting financial data
- Experience with financial systems, such as PeopleSoft
- Experience researching tax implications
It would be useful if you have:
- BA/BS Bachelor's Degree
- Knowledge of indirect, transaction, lodging, or sales and use tax
