Recreation Supervisor
The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily recreational activities with a strong emphasis on fishing experiences, ensuring safe, engaging, and high-quality programs for guests. This role combines hands-on fishing expertise with supervisory responsibilities, guest engagement, and operational coordination. The ideal candidate is an experienced angler with leadership skills and a passion for outdoor recreation and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Fishing & Recreational Programming
- Design, lead, and supervise fishing activities, including boat-based fishing, fly fishing, and beginner instruction (as applicable).
- Provide expert guidance on fishing techniques, equipment use, bait selection, local species, and conservation practices.
- Ensure all fishing activities comply with local regulations, environmental standards, and sustainability guidelines.
- Organize fishing excursions, tournaments, demonstrations, and guest workshops.
Supervision & Operations
- Supervise, train, and schedule recreation staff, including fishing guides and instructors.
- Conduct daily briefings to ensure staff are prepared, professional, and aligned with guest experience standards.
- Monitor equipment inventory, including fishing gear, boats, safety equipment, and ensure proper maintenance.
- Enforce health, safety, and risk management procedures at all times.
Guest Experience
- Deliver personalized and engaging fishing experiences for guests of varying skill levels.
- Act as the primary point of contact for guest inquiries related to fishing and recreational activities.
- Handle guest feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Promote recreation offerings and encourage guest participation.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Maintain activity schedules, attendance records, and incident reports.
- Assist in budgeting, procurement, and cost control related to fishing and recreation operations.
- Prepare routine reports on participation levels, equipment condition, and program performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in recreational fishing (saltwater), including guiding or instruction.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in recreation, outdoor activities, or hospitality, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of fishing equipment, techniques, local marine or freshwater species, and safety practices.
- Certifications in boating safety, first aid, CPR, or lifeguarding are an advantage.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
