What will I be doing?

As a Receiving Officer & Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both the Purchasing and Finance functions of the hotel. This role is responsible for the accurate receiving, handling and distribution of goods, effective stock control, cash management duties, and providing finance support to ensure smooth hotel operations and strong cost control.

To successfully fill this role, you will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Manage all incoming deliveries, ensuring goods are verified against purchase orders and meet quality standards.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Maintain high standards of stock handling, storage, rotation, and food safety compliance (QA, HACCP, WHS).
  • Monitor stock levels, maintain par levels, and coordinate timely ordering of beverages and operational supplies.
  • Conduct stocktakes and support inventory reconciliation processes.
  • Obtain competitive supplier quotes and support cost control initiatives.
  • Assist with supplier reviews, contract support, and purchasing performance tracking.
  • Perform General Cashier duties including float counts, secure deposits, and preparation of daily reports.
  • Support revenue audit processes and assist in resolving cash or supplier discrepancies.
  • Contribute to clean, organized, and compliant storage and loading areas.
  • Support sustainability and waste minimization initiatives.

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant qualifications in Hotel Management, Finance or Accounting preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience in receiving, stores, purchasing or finance support role (5-star environment highly regarded).
  • Understanding of stock control processes, HACCP principles and basic financial controls.
  • Experience in cash handling and reconciliation processes preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to resolve discrepancies professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office; Background in hotel systems preferred).
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Flexible, reliable and able to work early shifts to manage delivery schedules.
  • A proactive, cost-conscious mindset with a focus on operational efficiency.
