Manager Platform Architect API Enablement

On the Distribution Platforms team reporting to Director Platform Architect, you will support operational initiatives and projects that rely on API usage.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.
What your day-to-day will be like:
- Guide teams in using Hilton's core APIs and supporting the teams providing Hilton's core APIs
- Be the bridge between API consumers and development teams, validating requested APIs against solution needs, security considerations and API usage models, and communicating across all levels and disciplines. Work collaboratively and independently.
- Analyze and translate business requirements, gather use cases for API access, challenge and guide requesting teams on API utilization, and collaborate across the organization to align needs with available or new APIs.
- Collaborate with Build & Test teams to understand the usage model, set-up, technical vision, tradeoffs between usability and performance, and other considerations for API use.
- Organize, communicate & present ideas across levels, apply management and project management tools to support team efforts, and identify changes in processes, technology, or roles to advance business goals.
How you will collaborate with others:
- You will manage three (3) direct reports, guiding their work to align with enterprise goals, coordinating regular check-ins, and overseeing their development.
- Your collaborators will include Architects, Developers, security professionals, project teams, and others to ensure solutions accessing the core APIs align with our enterprise strategy and do not adversely impact, security, stability, or performance.
- You will join architecture handover calls with Architects & Developers, initiate meetings with Build teams to understand their APIs, meet with Requestors to align their use cases with available APIs.
What projects you will take ownership of:
- API Adoption for Core Services: Help internal and external API consumers use Hilton's APIs to integrate.
- Platform Architecture Enhancements: Support infrastructure upgrades, configuration management, and other enablement functions – contributing to smooth deployment of new services across environments.
WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT
You have these minimum qualifications:
- Five (5) years of professional work experience in Technology or related field
- Exposure to use or development of APIs
- Experience with Splunk, Swagger Editor, Atlassian Stack and/or Postman or related technologies
- This is a hybrid role and would require to be near one of our three US office locations (Memphis, Dallas, McLean).
- Travel up to 15%, as needed
It would be useful if you have:
- Bachelor's Degree, or Associate's Degree plus six plus (6+) years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus twelve plus (12+) years of Technology related experience
- Experience with Architecture Diagramming – data flows, network diagrams, interaction diagrams – and API Framework library and API Gateway
- Knowledge of hotel-based IT systems and applications
