What will I be doing?
As Junior Sommelier serving Waldorf Astoria Maldives, you are responsible for managing and aiding all food and beverage outlets according to Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi Service Delivery Standards, in order to deliver maximum profit and guest satisfaction, on a consistent basis. This position is concerned with the responsibility of the quality and profitability of the overall wine and beverage experience in the property. As Junior Sommelier, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Always prioritize guest needs, be proactive, and provide timely, friendly, and efficient service.
- Take personal responsibility, show initiative in resolving issues, and communicate clearly with guests and colleagues.
- Approach tasks with enthusiasm, seek opportunities to learn new skills, and improve personal performance.
- Adapt quickly to changing requirements and perform any tasks requested
- Support colleagues, contribute to team goals, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Promote resort services, adhere to brand standards, and ensure safety and hygiene compliance.
- Maintain updated wine and beverage lists, recommend pairings, and host special events.
- Minimize costs by handling property and equipment correctly, ensuring accurate pricing, and managing stock levels
- Strive to enhance guest satisfaction through quality, creativity, and value for money, while keeping abreast of industry trends
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and hygiene, and attend training sessions and meetings punctually
- Work closely with all resort departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and profitable operations
- Understand and adhere to fire, hygiene, health, and safety policies, and take necessary actions when required
- Effectively communicate with team members, suppliers, and third parties to ensure smooth operations
- Conduct and support training sessions for team members to enhance their product knowledge and skills
- Aim to exceed guest expectations, cultivate rapport, anticipate needs, and provide a memorable experience through personalized service
What are we looking for?
Junior Sommelier serving Waldorf Astoria Maldives is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:
- Passion for delivering exceptional levels of guest service
- Extensive Food & Beverage Experience within a luxury setting.
- Excellent communication skills, effective management, leadership, organizational and communications skills
- Ability to assemble, analyze, understand integrated spread sheets and complex technical information.
- Strong presentations skills
- Candidate must have a good command of spoken and written English, and an additional language will be a plus
- Diploma or Higher-level qualification from hotel school or equivalent / WSET Level 3
