What will I be doing?
As the Hotel Accountant, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Prepare month end journal vouchers and send to the general ledger.
- Assist in preparation and analysis of month-end management reports both P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow.
- Complete the monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Contribute to the weekly and monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process.
- Review and issue daily revenue / payroll report.
- Prepare and submit the required statutory reports including (but not limited to), GST Return, PAYE Return, Kiwi Saver, FBT, NRWT and Statistics NZ
- Ensure proper permits and licenses have been obtained for such matters as importation, currency transfers and hotel operations (bars, gaming etc.). Take responsibility for the safekeeping and updating of all leases and contracts, which may affect the financial status of the hotel.
- Liaise and co-operate with both Internal and External Audit. Ensure that an effective program of in-hotel audit is in place and that corrective action is promptly taken where required. Give particular emphasis to ensuring that all revenue is captured. Make use of a monthly control checklist.
- Perform regular payroll audits and ensure that the payroll audit file is reviewed and authorised by the relevant parties.
- Preparation and loading of Payroll Journals.
- Loading of Payroll bank files prior to authorisation by the Finance Manager Operations/General Manager (Hotel).
- Ensure that all employees are paid correctly based on authorised information supplied by the relevant employing entity.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Review and approve Income Audit journals, supporting the reconciliations where needed.
- Other tasks assigned by Finance Manager, Hotel Manager or NZ Director of Finance.
What are we looking for?
A Hotel Accountant serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:
- • University preferred Commerce degree in Accounting & Management.
- • At least 3 years of working experience in a Finance / General Ledger role preferably in the hospitality industry.
- • Mature and reliable person.
- • Thorough knowledge of local accounting laws and tax laws.
- • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
- • Flexible with working hours, especially at the end of the month.
- • Fluent in both written and spoken English to meet business needs.
