As the centerpiece of the city, the hotel is located near the French Quarter and within walking distance to the city's most vibrant attractions and entertainment, including Jackson Square, Bourbon Street and the Arts & Warehouse District.
Embodying the rich heritage of Southern hospitality, the historic hotel features 504 rooms, over 60,000 square feet of meeting space, and five (5) food and beverage outlets. This includes 2 restaurants, a café, seasonal rooftop bar, and in-room dining.

A Director of Security and Safety is responsible for directing and administering the implementation of all safety and security programs and initiatives to ensure the safety of guests and team members and the security of the hotel and property in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding service and financial profitability.
What will I be doing?
As a Director of Security and Safety, you would be responsible for directing and administering the implementation of all safety and security programs and initiatives to ensure the safety of guests and team members and the security of the hotel and property in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Direct the flow of guest traffic (crowd control) in the lobby during high operational times and peak times (i.e. holiday season).
- Direct and administer all Safety and Security operations and functions to include, but not limited to, preserving the safety and security of the guests, team members and the facility, safe work practice promotion, OSHA compliance, safety incentive programs and classes, systems use and management, lost and found, budgeting and forecasting, department management, adherence to federal, state and local standards and meeting participation and facilitation.
- Direct and administer the patrol of the interior of and the perimeter of the hotel and the property to observe and identify potential safety risks, security risks and undesirable conditions.
- Direct and lead investigations of accidents, thefts, property loss and unlawful activities.
- Direct response to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property.
- Serve as primary liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement.
- Oversee the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation.
- Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve guest issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
- Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward.
- Recruit, interview and train team members.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Basic mathematical comprehension to understand and interpret numbers as they apply to operations in hotels.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate effectively with guests and employees
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to analyze information and make effective judgements.
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
EDUCATION
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- 4-year college degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Director role or similar.
- Previous Experience as Director of Safety & Security (Loss Prevention) or Progressive experience for role.
- Previous luxury hotel experience, preferred.
