Chief Accountant
What will I be doing?
The Chief Accountant will support all activities performed by the Director of Finance (DOF), to include but not limited to, understanding and driving financial performance, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and month-end closing activities, coordinating and reviewing monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform System of Accounts (USALI) and Hilton policies and procedures. The role will ensure a smooth operation of all hotel finance activities in full compliance with the policy, regulatory and contractual framework. The Chief Accountant will act as a business partner with all hotel finance team members and the Hotel Management team, and supports the DOF in developing excellent working relationships across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including Commercial, IT, Procurement, Operations, Shared Service Centers (where applicable), Owners and Asset Managers as well as Regional Operations Finance. In absence of the DOF, the Chief Accountant will assume responsibilities of the department lead.
As the Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
• Review and approve payments of invoices and other due payment documents.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliation in line with company policy.
• Review and approval of payroll related payments
• Ensure deadlines according to local requirements in the payroll process are met
• Ensure that the team meets all Operations Finance deadlines in the month-end/quarter-end/year-end closing process
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are prepared in accordance with applicable deadlines, ensure accuracy and proper storage of backup
• Preparation and posting of month-end journal entries
• Review of all payroll related matters (payments, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations incl. any necessary follow-ups with HR)
• Provide financial oversight of the capital expenditure process
• Ensure capital projects are completed within established critical path and financial projections
• Communication and preparation of documentation needed by any internal/external auditor and the owning company.

• University degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent.
• Solid working experience in hotel accounting with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial/Supervisory accounting role.
• Mature and reliable person.
• Good relationship with the local bank and government authorities.
• Thorough knowledge of local accounting and tax laws.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook with the ability to learn new programs when required.
• Flexible with working hours, especially at the end of the month.
• Professional Accounting qualification preferred.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English to meet business needs.
