What will I be doing?
As the Assistant Banquet Manager, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Operations
Support the Banquet Director in planning, organizing, and supervising daily banquet operations.
Coordinate event setup requirements according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
Ensure quality and timely service delivery of food and beverage during events.
Maintain strong operational presence during functions to engage with clients and guests.
Handle guest feedback, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and discretion.
Coordinate closely with culinary, conference services, and catering teams to ensure seamless event execution.
Ensure banquet areas are properly prepared, clean, and compliant with luxury service standards.
Leadership & Culture
Supervise, train, and motivate banquet team members to deliver exceptional service standards.Conduct pre-event briefings to communicate function details, service priorities, and guest expectations.
Support recruitment, coaching, and performance development of banquet associates.
Foster teamwork, engagement, and a positive working environment.
Provide recognition and guidance to maintain high morale and productivity.
Administration
Assist in scheduling manpower including part-time staff based on business demand.
Maintain accurate operational records including billing, event reports, attendance, and shift documentation.
Support implementation of SOPs, training manuals, and banquet service procedures.
Participate in site inspections, resume meetings, and operational planning sessions.
Financial & Cost Control
Support labor cost control through effective scheduling and resource allocation.
Monitor operating expenses, purchasing decisions, and inventory control.
Assist in tracking event profitability and revenue performance.
Promote upselling opportunities to enhance guest experience and financial results.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, billing procedures, and cost management initiatives.
Guest & Team Experience
Deliver anticipatory and personalized service aligned with Waldorf Astoria luxury standards.
Build strong relationships with event organizers, group contacts, and VIP guests.
Ensure special occasions and high-profile events are executed with attention to detail.
Support team wellbeing and contribute to a collaborative workplace culture.
Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with hygiene, sanitation, food safety, and fire & life safety regulations.
Monitor banquet facilities and equipment condition and report maintenance needs.
Promote responsible alcohol service practices during events.
Support emergency response procedures and risk management protocols.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain effective communication with all hotel departments to ensure seamless event delivery.
Attend operational meetings and coordinate closely with senior F&B leadership.
Work harmoniously and professionally with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.
Support off-site event coordination when required.
Other Duties
Support sustainability initiatives and cost-control practices.
Stay informed of industry trends and service innovations in banquet operations.
Contribute to pre-opening activities including training, recruitment, and operational setup.
Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
